Ways to help & ways to be a part of IMPACT.
•Bring IMPACT to Your School or Business: IMPACT is always looking for new connections in the community, and often the most successful way to build new relationships and serve more people is through a member of that entity. We are able to provide classes to everyone, ages 6 and up, and have specialized classes for different groups, such as classes for parents and toddlers (ages 3-5), classes for elders, and classes for people with different mental or physical abilities.
•Volunteer: IMPACT uses a number of volunteers who help with activities including outreach, acting as a class assistant, helping with graduation ceremonies and events, data entry and office work, etc. We occasionally have volunteers with expertise in particular areas such as computers, web site management, video production, etc. who have been vital in improving the systems and outreach tools we use. Let us know if you are interested in helping in one of these ways or have another skill that might be useful to us in our work!
•Become a Member of Our Staff: Everyone who has taken a class with us agrees that our staff is an incredible asset and what makes our organization what it is. Those who we choose to become instructors undergo extensive training to become instructors. Previous experience is absolutely not necessary. However, candidates are often drawn to IMPACT because they have previous experience in teaching, social work, physical activity, or martial arts, etc.
•Donate: Our work would not be possible without the generosity of the community. IMPACT is supported by foundation grants and individual donations; we do not currently receive any government funding. Donations are what make us able to teach violence prevention to youth and adults.
We have donors to general operating costs as well as Marissa’s Scholarship Fund. This Fund was created in memorial to a beloved, vibrant teen by the family and friends of Marissa Mathy-Zvailfler. Marissa’s friends and family wanted to make sure that the life-saving skills taught in the IMPACT Basics would be available to every teen, by automatically giving a $225 scholarship to every teen participant of Basics. The Fund is also used to give need-based scholarships to children, teens, and adults so that everyone, regardless of income, can receive IMPACT training and prevent violence in his/her own life.
Since 2003, over $80,000 of scholarship funds have been raised from businesses and individuals, and utilized to aid participants in receiving these skills. We are grateful to the donors who make IMPACT skills available to everyone in our community!
•Help Us Fundraise: Some have experience with fundraising and are comfortable hosting parties or organizing events and/or introductions. Individuals can help us build vital connections to people with a similar vision of building a community where people live powerfully, experience freedom, and pursue joy. We are always happy to meet new people, businesses, and foundations interested in our work.
•Become a Board or Committee Member: We are always happy to meet people who are interested in furthering the mission and work of IMPACT. Board and committee members are very important in moving our organization forward. If you are interested and have experience in the world of nonprofits, business, fundraising, marketing, finance, or governance, this may be a great way to help in the community!
