Marissa’s Scholarship Fund

This Fund was created in memorial to a beloved, vibrant teen by the family and friends of Marissa Mathy-Zvaifler.  Marissa’s friends and family wanted to make sure that the life-saving skills taught in the IMPACT Basics would be available to every teen, by automatically giving a scholarship to every teen participant of Basics.  The Fund is also used to give need-based scholarships to all participants, regardless of income, can receive IMPACT training on how to work to prevent violence in his/her own life.

If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please fill out the Scholarship Application.  For a paper copy, contact us.  After IMPACT has received your application, we will contact you to register.  If you have any questions, please contact our office.

Since 2003, over $80,000 of scholarship funds have been raised from businesses and individuals, and utilized to aid participants in receiving these skills.  We are grateful to the donors who make IMPACT skills available to everyone in our community!

Scholarship recipients say it best:

Dear Donor,

I want to express my gratitude to you for funding this class.  I believe that it is an incredibly important and life-changing experience for many girls, myself among them.  Taking this class had made me feel comfortable and safe in my everyday life.  I think that it is highly important for as many girls as possible to take this class, to try and create a safety community that way.  I am happy leaving class each day knowing that I have control over my life.  Thank you for much for what you have given me!

Dorothy

And:

Dear Donor,

As a current student of a teen IMPACT class, I would like to thank you for your scholarship donation.  I don’t believe that anyone could every understand, without personally taking the class, what an impact it can have on someone.  We have only done 3 out of the 6 classes and already most of us have used some of our skills.  The most amazing thing for me has been the replacement of fear with awareness and the knowledge that I could defend myself should the situation arise but I feel confident that I can now keep that situation from happening to begin with.  Your contribution has given this knowledge and power to girls around Santa Fe.  Thank you,

Lyra Butler-Denman
