- Attend a 20-Hour Basics Course as a student.

The next steps are a process of a mutual interview. It includes steps that will help you decide whether you are interested in the position while we assess whether you would be a good fit for our organization. All of our Whistle Instructors are Class Assistants first.
- If IMPACT determines that you are a good fit for the volunteer Class Assistant position at the end of your Basics Course, IMPACT staff will invite you to become an assistant.
- If you are still interested, you will be required to re-take Basics as the first step of assistant training.
- After you are a class assistant for 1-2 Basics, inform IMPACT’s Executive Director, Alena Schaim, that you are interested in becoming a Whistle Instructor. If she determines that IMPACT may be interested in training you, she will ask for a resume and letter of interest.
- On average, Class Assistants interested in becoming Whistle Instructors assist 6-15 Basics before instructor training begins.
